Sheep Handling Table

A nudge of the knee by the shearer allows the table leaves (hinged at the centre) to be raised thus confining the animal and presenting it for convenient removal of belly wool. Another nudge, the leaves lower, and the sheep can be rolled to one side and the shearing continues. A kick on the disc footplate unlocks the central pivot, allowing the table to be spun around 180 degrees to shear the other side.

Finally the leg cuffs are released, the shorn sheep is “rolled” out of the table into a chute where it can run into the yard, leaving the intact fleece draped over the table.
