Grain Elevator

Usually bucket elevators are constructed on site following completion of the building but with harvesting of a bumper grain crop looming, as much work as possible had to be done off-site.

The 20 metre high bucket elevator was designed around a rigid truss frame to enable it be transported fully assembled, and lifted into place, in a brief time window. A bonus was that the more rigid machine, being less susceptible to misalignment and vibrations, performed better than conventional elevators.

Other grain handling machinery designed for this project included belt conveyors, hoppers, screw conveyors. A moveable tripper on the main high level conveyor enables the grain to be distributed anywhere along the shed.
